SEO for Firefox not working on Google
Friday, November 17th, 2006I just noticed this yesterday, but Aaron Wall’s SEO for Firefox plugin no longer works on Google. Aaron’s walls plugin is also one of the best SEO plugins I have seen. But it seems Google has done some changes on their SERP design since the information given out by the SEO for Firefox plugin seems to be missing in the SERPs. And even a search for updates, there are no new updates yet for the plugin. I guess we have to either wait a while until Aaron Wall comes up with the SEO for Firefox plugin update, or simply ticker with it ourselves. Well for me, I’d rather just wait. ![]()
What is the cumulative SEO ranking secret? Ranking high in all Google, Yahoo and MSN.
Tuesday, November 14th, 2006Using Dennis Agulo’s SEOBunker, it is easy to compare results between Ituloy AngSulong SEO contest entries. And one common pattern that seems to currently appear, generally sites that rank high on Google and Yahoo, seem to be beyond the 100 mark on MSN. And sites that rank high in MSN, are beyond the 100 mark in both Google and Yahoo. With the exception of Marhgil’s entry, which seems to rank well in all three search engines, giving the his Ituloy AngSulong site the highest advantage in the cumulative SEO contest rankings.
I am also currently puzzled with MSN’s behavior and has created an experimental Ituloy AngSulong page just for MSN, but it seems the real problem is MSN also seem takes a lot of time to index it. While some sites seem to rank high in MSN, these sites are down on Yahoo and Google, except for the site of Marhgil.
And this was not the case with MSN before. With many of my SEO clients, I basically just optimized my site for Google and Yahoo and I never had to check MSN, and I just know my site will be on top. But today, we are seeing something different with MSN. But this may not necessary mean MSN search algorithm is different, it can also mean maybe their crawling of new pages is slower? Or maybe crawls are done fast, but whatever initial computations MSN does in its algorithm before adding the site in the indexed search results takes more time this time? Maybe all these changes all have to do with MSN’s transition to MSN Live? I really do not know.
Ituloy AngSulong Monitoring Tools
Friday, November 10th, 2006Comparing Ituloy AngSulong SEO Contest with the previous Isulong SEOph SEO Contest, the first contest was a keyword ranking contest for the keyphrase Isulong SEOph on Google.com.ph only. Today, the Ituloy AngSulong contest is a keyword ranking contest for Google, Yahoo and MSN. There are prizes for each individual search engine. And there is also a cumulative prize who ranks the highest in all 3 search engines.
With this in mind, several Ituloy AngSulong competitors have been building out their own tools for comparative ranking analysis.
- Benj Arriola’s SEOSearchOptimization: Side by Side ranking on Google, Yahoo and MSN for Ituloy AngSulong.
- Bloodred’s Top100X3: Side by side comparison and cumulative ranking computation.
- Dennis Agulo’s SEOBunker: Side by side comparison, cumulative ranking, PR, archived results and comments.
I have started on the SEOSearchOptimization and has just felt a bit lazy to continue on. With the MSN/Live API having problems with results being not the same the actual site, I have resorted to reading the RSS feeds but does not seem to reach page 2 of the search results.
Bloodred used the MSN API which has been showing results way different from the actual results. Thus this also makes his cumulative ranking innacurate.
The Goyams creator, Dennis Angulo, knowing the MSN API flaw, scraped the MSN rankings. He also stores his data, archived which prevents him from using the whole API daily limit on Google of 1000 queries a day. The added comments on the site is also very nice which makes his site serve a good link bait.
